On Sunday, October 18, our parish of St. Volodymyr hosted a charity concert by Tetiana Loboda.

The day began with the Divine Liturgy. After the service, parishioners and guests gathered to enjoy Ukrainian music and learn more about the ancient traditions of kobzar music.

At the beginning of the event, Oksana Stus introduced our guest and spoke about her life, musical education, and professional career. Through her work, СLoboda helps preserve and share Ukraine’s rich musical heritage.

During the concert, Tetiana performed historical and patriotic songs, as well as her own compositions. Her performance showed both great musical skill and a deep knowledge of Ukrainian musical traditions.

Tetiana Loboda studied music at the Kyiv State Conservatory. She worked as a researcher at the Museum of Theatre, Music, and Cinema of Ukraine and also led a studio at the H. I. Maiboroda National Honored Bandura Players Choir of Ukraine. Throughout her career, she has worked to preserve, study, and pass on Ukraine’s musical heritage to future generations.

One of the highlights of the event was the opportunity to learn about the kobza, a traditional Ukrainian string instrument. Guests could see the instrument up close, learn about its unique features, and even try playing it themselves.

The concert was held to support Ukraine and help preserve and develop the art of kobzar music. The funds raised will go toward these causes.

At the end of the concert, Father Roman thanked everyone for attending, for their support, and for sharing this special time together. He gave special thanks to Ms. Tetiana for sharing her talents with love, keeping Ukrainian musical traditions alive, and helping preserve our cultural heritage far from our homeland.

As a sign of gratitude and respect, everyone sang the traditional Ukrainian greeting “Mnohaya Lita,” wishing her many years of life. Ms. Tetiana also presented the parish with a CD of Ukrainian songs performed by her on the kobza.

The event concluded with a prayer for Ukraine and the singing of the beloved Ukrainian spiritual hymn “God, Great and One.”

After the concert, everyone continued the gathering with refreshments, friendly conversation.

Events like this help preserve our spiritual and cultural heritage, strengthen our parish community, and bring us together in prayer, gratitude, and support for Ukraine.
