On October 9, following the Divine Liturgy, our parish held a special blessing of pets in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, whose feast day the Church celebrated on October 4.
Parishioners gathered with their beloved animal companions to thank God for the gift of life, the joy of companionship, and the special love that our pets bring into our lives each day.
St. Francis is well known for his deep love for animals and all of God’s creation. He saw in every living creature a reflection of God’s wisdom and goodness and taught people to treat nature with love, gratitude, and respect. His example reminds us that caring for animals is also a way of expressing our gratitude to the Creator for all His gifts.
For many of us, pets are true members of the family who bring warmth, joy, and loyalty into our lives. They teach us patience, compassion, and unconditional love, and their presence often brings comfort and happiness.
We thank everyone who joined us for this heartwarming and joyful occasion! May the example of St. Francis inspire us to recognize the beauty of God’s creation, care for it, and share our love not only with one another but also with all living creatures entrusted to our care.
