St Volodymyr Ukrainian Catholic Church in Santa Clara, CA

Roman Bobesiuk was born on January 25, 1981, in the village of Krasnosiltsi, part of the Zbarazh district in the Ternopil region of Ukraine. In 1988, he enrolled in the first grade at the secondary school in Krasnosiltsi. From 1996 to 1999, he studied at the Chortkiv Dyak-Regent School. In 1999, he graduated from the Zbarazh Secondary School. From 1999 to 2006, he was a student at the Ternopil Higher Theological Seminary named after Patriarch Joseph Slipyj, where he studied philosophy and theology. He defended his thesis on the theme: “Preparation for Marital and Family Life in the Documents of the Church after the Second Vatican Council.”

After graduating from seminary, in 2006 he entered the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, where he specialized in dogmatic theology. He successfully defended his licentiate in Mariology.

On December 13, 2008, he was ordained a deacon, and on January 14, 2009, he was ordained a priest.

On March 1, 2009, he was appointed administrator of the Parish of the Ascension of the Lord in Dubno. That same year, he was also appointed chairman of the Commission for Evangelization of the Lutsk Exarchate of the UGCC, as well as auditor of the tribunal of the Lutsk Exarchate.

From 2009 to 2016, he served as Chancellor of the Lutsk Exarchate.

In 2010, he received a Certificate of Merit from Lubomyr Husar for professional coverage of church and community events.

In 2011, he was appointed Coordinator of the Church Development Strategy.

In 2013, at the parish, he registered a charitable public non-profit organization — the Caritas-Dubno Charitable Foundation.

In 2014, he became a member of both the Board of Exarchal Advisers and the Presbyteral Council of the Lutsk Exarchate. That same year, he was awarded a diploma for active charitable activity by the Dubno City Council.

In 2015, he was appointed censor of the Lutsk Exarchate.

In 2016, he opened a literary café at the parish.

In 2017, he was awarded the golden pectoral cross. Also in 2017, he founded the Spiritual Center for Youth and Family Leisure at the parish. In the same year, the Rivne Regional State Administration awarded him an honorary diploma for volunteer activity.

In 2018, His Beatitude Sviatoslav Shevchuk presented him with a certificate of appreciation for his sacrificial priestly service.

In 2019, he was received into the Eparchy of St. Nicholas in Chicago and assigned to serve at St. Nicholas Cathedral. That same year, he was appointed administrator of the Mission Institute of the Eparchy, as well as spiritual director for the cathedral communities, including Mothers in Prayer.

In 2023, he was awarded the pectoral cross with ornaments by Bishop Benedykt Aleksiychuk.

In late 2023, he was appointed priest of St. Luke Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Cody, Wyoming.

In 2024, he established a Mission Church in Casper, Wyoming.

In the summer of 2024, Fr. Roman was appointed administrator of Immaculate Conception Ukrainian Catholic Church in San Francisco, CA, as well as St. Volodymyr Ukrainian Catholic Church in Santa Clara, CA.

In September 2025, he was released from the office of administrator of Immaculate Conception Parish and continued to serve as pastor of St. Volodymyr Parish in Santa Clara.

His wife, Oleksandra Bobesiuk (born in 1984), holds a Candidate of Philological Sciences degree and is an elementary school and computer science teacher. Since February 2009, she has worked as an assistant at the Department of Ukrainian Language and Literature of the Kremenets Regional Humanities and Pedagogical Institute named after Taras Shevchenko.

They have three sons: Illia (born in 2009), Davyd (born in 2013), and Marko (born in 2016).
