Holy Apostles Stakhys, Apelles, Amplias, Urban, and Narcissus of the 70
The Synaxarion (Lives of the Saints):
Saint Stachys, one of the Seventy Apostles, was ordained Bishop of Byzantium by Saint Andrew. He founded a church at Argyropolis, where many gathered to hear his preaching. For sixteen years, he faithfully shepherded his flock, proclaiming the Gospel, bringing many to the Christian faith, and laboring for their salvation. He departed to the Lord in peace.
Saints Amplias and Urban were also ordained bishops by Saint Andrew. Amplias served in Diopolis and Urban in Macedonia. Both suffered martyrdom for destroying pagan idols.
Saint Narcissus was appointed Bishop of Athens by the Apostle Philip. Because of his zeal in proclaiming the Gospel, he was tortured and put to death by idol-worshippers.
Saint Apellas, Bishop of Herakleia, brought many people to the Christian faith.
Saint Aristobulus, one of the Seventy Apostles and brother of Saint Barnabas, preached the Gospel in Britain, where he departed to the Lord in peace.
