On February 2, our church of St. Volodymyr celebrated the Feast of the Encounter of the Lord. The Divine Liturgy was led by Fr. Roman Bobesiuk together with Fr. Dennis Smolarski SJ.
In his sermon, Fr. Dennis spoke about the deep meaning of this feast. He emphasized the importance of a personal meeting with Christ. He said that we do not need to search for God ourselves but should allow Him to find us and enter our lives.
After the Liturgy, there was a blessing of the candles and anointing of the faithful. Fr. Roman invited Fr. Dennis to share a few words about himself. Then, he thanked him for his service and greeted everyone. He encouraged all to carry the light of God’s presence in their lives and be witnesses of faith in today’s world.
The celebration ended with a prayer for many years, warm conversations, and a delicious breakfast. Parishioners had the opportunity to share the joy of the feast and enjoy fellowship in a friendly atmosphere.
