Day One
“CHRIST — THE WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE LIFE OF MARRIAGE”
Friday (May 15)
John 14:1–11
The main verse of today’s Gospel is Jesus’ words:
“I am the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6).
Jesus said these words to His disciples at the Last Supper. They show one of the most important tasks every person has in life: to walk the right path, discover the truth, and find real life.
What is this way?
Human life is full of many roads. We are always moving somewhere. Some roads are wide and easy, others are narrow and difficult. Some even lead to a dead end. But among all the roads in life, the most important one is the road to God. And this road goes through Jesus Christ:
“No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6).
What is this truth?
Today we see a strange situation: people have almost unlimited access to information, yet it becomes harder and harder to find the truth. The modern world often says that there is no one truth and that everyone has their own truth. But this is a great deception. Real truth exists, and it begins with knowing God the Creator. This truth is revealed in Jesus Christ:
“If you knew Me, you would know My Father also” (John 14:7).
And what kind of life is Jesus speaking about?
He is not speaking only about physical life, but about a life filled with meaning, peace, and true happiness. A person receives this life when living in unity with God. The best example of this is Jesus Himself:
“I am in the Father and the Father is in Me… The Father who dwells in Me does His works” (John 14:10–11).
How important this is for family life!
Marriage and family are not simply the meeting of two people. They are a shared journey that a husband and wife are called to walk together. Today many families experience difficulties not because they lack material things, but because each person lives only for their own interests and plans, almost like separate lives. This often happens when husband and wife are not walking together toward God.
But when Christ and His Word become the way for a married couple, they begin to discover God’s plan for family life: the meaning of married love, how this love is connected to openness to new life, and why the family is called to become a “domestic church.” By learning these truths, husband and wife open themselves to God’s presence and action. God helps them see the true beauty in one another and gives them a deep and meaningful family life.
May every married couple today choose Christ as their way, so that in Him they may discover the truth that leads to real life and family happiness.
Mission Tasks:
- Personal level: Ask yourself today: what can I do to help my family walk closer to God?
- Parish level: Think about one concrete way you can help your parish become a more living place of truth and new life in Christ.
- Mission level: Try to help at least one family that has not yet found, or perhaps has lost, the way to God, to discover the path to Him again.
